I’m Jane Blackwell

— Growing up with artist parents, I was encouraged to explore and express my creativity from an early age so, I’ve been creating art for as long as I can remember.

As a young teen, I spent hours drawing graphite portraits, earning praise for their realism and technical accuracy. But despite the recognition, I felt creatively unfulfilled. In high school art class, I would grab a stack of printer paper and fill it with surreal, goofy characters and designs—just for fun. At the end of class, I’d toss them in the recycling bin without a second thought. What I didn’t realize was that my art teacher had been fishing them out, adding them to my portfolio or hanging them on the wall. That was the moment I understood that art didn’t have to be technically perfect or hyper-realistic to have value. Even if my surreal doodles didn’t earn the same kind of praise as my portraits, they brought me joy and allowed me to express myself in a way that felt authentic. Since then, I’ve embraced a more playful, surreal style, prioritizing creativity over perfection—and in doing so, I’ve created work that I’m truly proud of.

Whether I’m working on a personal piece or a custom commission, I aim to create artwork that feels dynamic, nostalgic, and a little unexpected.
